3 Tbsp chopped fresh parsley
Kosher salt
Freshly ground pepper
½ cup barbecue sauce
1½ lb ground pork
4 hamburger buns, toasted
Preparation:
Preheat your grill to medium heat, ensuring it’s ready for that perfect sear on your burgers.

Swimming weather is here, and you don’t need a fancy pool or tons of toys to keep you and your family busy in the pool this summer. We’ve rounded up some of our favorite games that you can play all summer long- And the best part is, most of them only require you and your friends!
Categories: Categories is a pool game where one player is chosen to be “It”. They choose a category, and the other players silently think of an item in that category. The “It” player has his back turned to the other players, and begins to call out items in the category. The goal is for the players to swim to the opposite end of the pool when their chosen item is called out. When the “It” player hears movement, they can try to tag the other players once they’ve started moving. You can go for speed, or silence, depending on your strategy. If a player is tagged, they become “It”!
Submarine: In the game of Submarine, one player is chosen as “It” while everyone else becomes a submarine. The submarines have 30 seconds to choose a spot in the pool where they have to stay for the rest of the game. The goal of the game is for the submarines to avoid being tagged by the “It” player, who has his eyes closed and is trying to listen and feel for the submarines. Submarines can only move by going underwater, but they must come back up in the same spot. Once per game, they can yell out “submarine!” to change spots. If a submarine is tagged, they become the new “It” player.
Watermelon Ball: This game was originally started with a real watermelon, but we recommend purchasing the official watermelon ball! Watermelon Ball is a team-based game where two teams compete to score points by getting the Watermelon Ball to the goal. Goals are usually marked by pool decks on opposite sides of the pool, but families can set their own goals. The game is similar to rugby, but with a unique twist. In Watermelon Ball, all passes must be made underwater for them to count. The ball is specially designed for underwater play, but it can be carried out of the water. However, throwing the ball in the air will result in a turnover to the other team. Players can dunk, hold, pull, or body block opponents to gain possession of the ball. The first team to score five points wins the game. Winners get first dibs on real watermelon slices!
Sharks and Minnows: One person is designated as the “Shark” and stands in the middle of the pool while the other players start at one end. The aim of the game is for the “Minnows” to swim from one end of the pool to the other without getting tagged by the “Shark”. Any player who gets tagged becomes a “Shark” themselves, and the game continues until there’s only one Minnow left.
Pool Basketball: #WetLikeI’mBook 💦 Although a built-in basketball hoop is convenient, all you really need for this game is a pool noodle tied up at each end to make a circle, and some sort of ball of course! The moving pool noodle hoop can actually make pool basketball even more fun and challenging, as the circular noodle moves around the pool while you and your teammates try to score. First team to 11 wins!

Are you tired of the high energy costs and constant noise from your pool pump? Then it’s time to upgrade to a variable speed pump! With this innovative technology, you can save money, reduce energy consumption, and enjoy a quieter pool area. Today, we’ll explore the top six reasons why customers should make the switch to a variable speed pump. Get ready to learn how this simple upgrade can transform your pool experience, and save you money in the long run!
1. Energy Efficiency: Single speed pumps are notorious for being energy hogs, using a lot of electricity to operate. In contrast, variable speed pumps can save you up to 90% on energy costs. This is because they are designed to operate at lower speeds for longer periods, rather than constantly running at high speeds. By using less energy, variable speed pumps are not only more eco-friendly, but they can also save you a lot of money on your energy bills!
2. Longer Lifespan: Single speed pumps are designed to operate at one speed and are often run at high speeds, which can lead to wear and tear and shorten their lifespan. In contrast, variable speed pumps are designed to operate at lower speeds, reducing wear and tear and extending their lifespan. This means you’ll have to replace your pump less frequently, saving you money in the long run.
3. Quieter Operation: No more waking up the neighbors or shouting to be heard over the noise of the pump! Variable speed pumps are much quieter than their single speed counterparts. By operating at lower speeds, they produce less noise, making your pool area a more peaceful place to relax.
4. Improved Filtration: Variable speed pumps can also improve the filtration of your pool water. By operating at lower speeds for longer periods, they can cycle more water through the filter, which means your water will be cleaner and clearer. This is particularly important if you have a lot of debris in your pool, such as leaves and twigs.
5. Customizable Settings: You can set your variable speed pump to run at different speeds at different times of the day, depending on your pool usage and other factors. This allows you to customize the operation of your pump to meet your specific needs, improving efficiency and performance. You also have the ability to connect it to automation, controlling the entire process from your phone!
6. Cost Effective: The #1 reason you’ll love your new pump is the amount of money it will save you. Depending on usage, it’s estimated that you’ll pay off the new pump in 1-3 years! Check out this graphic for the average savings you could see on a new variable speed pump!
In summary, upgrading to a variable speed pump is a smart investment for any pool owner. Although there is an upfront cost, you will ultimately save yourself a lot of money, time, and headache! From energy savings and improved filtration to customizable settings and a longer lifespan, the benefits are clear. Don’t let your outdated single speed pump hold you back any longer – make the switch and start enjoying a more efficient, eco-friendly, and peaceful pool area. Contact Flamingo Pools today to learn more about upgrading to a variable speed pump and start enjoying the benefits!
Suppose you notice that your water level is rapidly decreasing than usual. You check the weather and don’t notice anything unusual. In that case, your pool may probably leak. In this article, we will be discussing the basic things you need to know about: looking for signs of a leaking pool, how to locate it, and how to do basic pool repair for leaks.
The cause of leaks, no matter how small, isn’t as straightforward as it looks. Even if you detect it, you can’t guarantee that it is the only source of a leak. In most cases, professionals should take up leaking pool repair in Chandler and further checks.
If you want pool repair in Gilbert for your swimming pool maintenance needs, then Flamingo Pools are your go-to guys! We offer swimming pool services that can address pool leaks, pool heaters, swimming pool repair, pool pumps, your pool heater, the pool deck, and many more. Even if you are not a regular customer, we can repair your Glendale pool anytime you need us. Our weekly pool cleaning services also cover watching out for any indication of leaks.
Common Signs of a Leaking Pool
A common sign of leaks is when you notice a drop in the water level. Weather and climate in Glendale Arizona could play a part in this, as mentioned. However, if factoring in the weather doesn’t add up in contributing to the water loss, then you should be looking into the following factors:
Cracked Pool tiles: You may notice a few pool tiles are cracked when you do tile cleaning. It may look small, but if it has been broken for a long time, the water may have seeped further and already affected the surrounding ground.
Check your water bills: The pump compensates for the changes in level and may hide indications of more substantial water loss. If the weather doesn’t indicate contributing to evaporation, then the increase in your water bills means your pump is compensating for more water to maintain your pool level than usual.
Wet spots in your yard: The water that leaks will cause substantial soil erosion, causing unequal levels in your garden.
Water under your pool equipment: The leaks could come from your pipes due to erosion or a busted o-ring.
Presence of algae: Algae growth will happen when the chemical balance in your pool is off. The presence of algae could be caused by untreated water seeping into your pool.
Air or dirt goes into the pool through the pool pump: If you hear a gurgling noise in the underwater air release, this is a sure sign of a leak.
What causes Pool Leaks
Doing weekly pool service can catch these common problems in your pool. The most common sources of leaks are these three areas where weekly pool service regularly checks:
Fitting leaks: Concrete swimming pools are not water-tight. Pool lights, skimmers, and jets are sealed by plaster which is susceptible to leaks.
Plumbing leaks: The plumbing work for swimming pools are complicated and fragile. Any movement or sealing problems could lead to a leak in the pool shell or the piping itself.
Structural leaks: This means leaks in the pool shell itself. Aside from wear, leaks can result from ground movement, the pressure from groundwater, freezing, and thawing of the water, or if the shell was not appropriately made in the first place.
How to Locate the Leak
These are two of the simplest ways to detect where the pool is leaking. These methods can confirm or rule out evaporation, or if you want to ensure exactly where in the pool the leak is coming from through cracks. Note that it can’t detect the leak for the entire pool system. For that, you may need the services of a pool maintenance company.
Food Coloring: If you suspect the leak is coming through a cracked seal around pool lights, return, or the mouth of the skimmer, then you can use a solution with food coloring. Just place it right by the suspected leaking areas. You can confirm the presence of leaks if the food coloring gets sucked into the cracks.
Bucket Method: The bucket method confirms if the loss of water level is because of evaporation. Fill a 5 or 10-gallon bucket with the same water as the pool. Submerge the bucket such that the water level will be the same as the pool. Leave it for 24 hours after turning off the pool pump. If the pool’s water level is lower than that of the bucket, then you have a leak somewhere.
Swimming Pool Maintenance for Leaks
If you are a pool owner who seeks to address the leak immediately, here are some actions that you may consider once you confirm the presence of a leak. However, these are just stop-gap measures. Pool repairs of this nature should still be left to professionals in most cases.
Pipe repairs: If you confirm the leak is coming from a pipe, then a 100% silicone sealant and wrapping it tightly with Teflon tape can help.
Leaking pool skimmers: If the food coloring detection method confirms the leak is coming from your skimmer, you may repair the leak with a putty that usually comes with a repair kit.
Pool liner leaks: This is applicable if your own pool is above-ground. If the crack isn’t too large, you can seal it with a vinyl patch kit.
Conclusion: Best Option, leave it to the professionals

Replacing a sand filter (if applicable): Some pools have this filter, mainly when a pool is located near sandy areas.
Replacing your Skimmer Box:Â Skimmer boxes are easily accessible and removable.
Replacing the Pool Cover:Â Replacing the pool cover is also a straightforward task.
Minor Repairs for the Skim Plate: If it is a little dent, then it is OK.

Note that all repairs that involve draining are major ones, such as replacing tiles and replastering the pool surface.
Replacing a Motor Shaft: A swimming pool motor is designed specifically for use for the pool. Though a basic knowledge of motor can be helpful, a professional who specifically deals with these tasks can do the job better.
